How many on here rebuild .22 rimfire guns ? I have been thinking about looking for some parts and ect to rebuild some or start from scratch using parts I can find. I am thinking it would be a fun project.

RR those old Stevens Actions will not safely handle the type of pressures of those Modern rounds..
That is too nice of a rifle to take a chance of ruining it...Or injury to the shooter.

I love all old gun rebuilds. This is a Rem 1906 22 short im doing for my son. Got it for pennies. Had duct tape on the stock and pretty rusted. I cut the elm down myself (i know its not to standard gun wood) but i wanted to do something different. Made the butt plate from 1/4” stock I found from a burnt down fire look out at 8000’. Reblued. Started scratching some checkering in. The pump forearm is a pain. It will be a cool gun ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/10/full-1659-154637-6587cbba_bc1d_4224_88eb_a16ce6456fd2.jpeg) Is that a Hawken build in the pic also? Cool little rifle rebuild, love those old pump22s.

Its is. Its a .54. I got it because everyone said a .45 is to light. The couple antelope and a bear i shot this year bef to differ. It’ll be good for elk. I got it from Jedediah. I wish i would have just got the metal parts and a blank stock. I dont think its gonna work that great. Plus i waited 9 months it 54 is a nice caliber, just a little extra oomph over a 50. It only took 3 or 4 precarves for my dad to switch to blanks. Spent more time trying to figure our how to work with issues in the precarves. Blanks may take a little more planning and grunt work to remove wood, but the only mistakes you have to deal with are ones you create.

I drilled out many 22 and put liners in them and then chambered them. They all shot real good. It take a long drill bit. I know a few guys that do it with a hand held drill. I always drilled them in a lathe. O have a 1906 winchester that needs a liner. A lr case bulges and splits just past the length of a short. Of course this makes it not want to be pulled out over powering the ejector spring I'm guessing it Shot corrosive shorts and rusted out just past the case.

Yes the old 22 shells were something to be desired. And yes sounds like you need a liner put in.
