Hello, I have a Lab that's a pure brute of a work horse in the underbrush on grouse hunts. She (Daisy), wears a vest protector but still ends up with scraps and scratches.
Any tried and true recommendations for treating those types of injuries? Seems like whatever I apply to help with healing gets licked off if she can get to them.
Thanks in advance.

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

Beautiful Lab!!
I run rabbit dogs, my beagles go where the rabbit goes and they are out to catch the rabbit. This leads to a lot of cuts and scratches from the briars and what not. My beagles get pretty beat up sometimes doing what they love to do.
I carry a first aid kit for my hounds. It consists of Flour (used to pack ear bleeds), tweezers, magnifying glass and liquid suture.
When the hunt is over, I wipe there faces with baby wipes, I treat cuts by cleaning them and Neosporin. I check for thorns and ticks. They are tough little buggers.

I was always told, if not too bad let them lick. Not an educated opinion though.

Act like a blank, get treated like a blank. Insert your own blank!

K9 spit has been shown to have analgesic and antiseptic property's. As stated, if not too serious, let 'em lick.
