I normally take 5-7 a year here in WV. We are allowed 10-11 (3 Buck max). I never take more than 2 bucks a year and most years just 1 buck with a bow then the rest are does. WV is still behind the times as far as buck limit and overall deer management. Hopefully in my lifetime we will see better management like our bordering states Ohio, Kentucky, Pa. etc. We are moving but slowly. It was not long ago we had a 5 buck limit.

I used to most years. Now I let the kids shoot.
When it gets towards the end and we are still short deer I go at it again.

I hunt for food
I live alone and subsist nearly entirely on wild game and fish.
I eat 5 deer, 1 bear, and 3 turkey plus trout, crappie, perch, snapping turtles, squirrel etc. a year by myself
Deer here are not large bodied. However there are some nice racks. My best was 171 1/8”.
Most years I kill 3 bucks and 2 does
Some years 2 bucks and 3 does
I drive aways for the does as my population in my mountains here is very low
Right now I stand at 2 deer, 1 bear, 3 turkey

I guess it's been years since I've tagged out BUT the dnr gives tags in many units I hunt and I usually just take the tags offered if I might hunt those units. I've not been low on venison in many years and almost always give some away before season starts to make room for more. So in my mind I tag out but in reality not even close

I don't hunt to fill tags. I only kill what I need. Just how I roll. If anyone hunts within the legal boundaries, I don't care what they do. That's their business.

Glad to see some of the responses, I live in Beauregard Parish. However I travel all over the state, gonna try to hit up some property in Tensas Parish where the CWD lives. Along with more hogs, I need like another 5 good sized hogs for sausage.

To the guy in WV, I envy you. We are almost there, but Im having to do this with 3 kids and a wife. Wish we could kill a bear here, I will start travelling though to take some bear.

I heard of a fella along the Niobrara in NE that has 13 elk depradation permits.

I might get two. I don’t need to push it. My son n laws keep me in deer! The best kind! Already process!

That's funny, I'm sure you could fill plenty there , I've eaten lots of game from your aria.
