There used to be a big market for almost all carcases 30-40 years ago. Slowed down a bunch in the last 10-15 years. Hang in there, as this inflation could start a new market.

What were they using them for?

What were they using them for? Food ! There were resturants that sold marsh rabbit dinners. Years ago many people ate them , it's just too easy to get beef, chicken, and pork any more. The way things are going , there's going to be a lot more hunting and trapping going on. Another reason for the government to raise prices and make ammo hard to find.

Think about it, you more than likely have eaten rabbit and squirrel , what's the difference? Those two are rodents also. Some people think squirrel are nothing but tree rats! It's all in their heads, just like many things, if you grew up with it , you had no problem with it until a friend that never tried it changed your mind. They never changed my mind. Beaver meat is right up there with beef IMHO. Another rodent !

You are lucky to have that many muskrats in your area. I hope you find a source to take the carcass rats.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Be careful not to fall afoul of any health dept regs. Check around to see if any small butcher shops have a wild game type dept, ie: Rabbits, Coon etc. Might check with any local Zoo's or wild animal rehab facilities, Raptors, Acipiters, Yotes even Dog and Cat rescues. Anybody around you make meat based lures? Good luck!

You are lucky to have that many muskrats in your area. I hope you find a source to take the carcass rats. We were drawn for a unit in a particular area where they limit who traps where and when. I believe our unit is around 500 acres. If not for that, my rat count would barely hit double digits. Lol

Hogwild: Check into Monroe, Michigan Chamber. Every year they have a Muskrat festival. They use a lot of them.

Rabbits aren't rodents, just sayin. My mistake , you're right. Just trying to make a point , that most animals that eat vegetation for the most part , aren't much different than a muskrat. Even though muskrats will eat fish and clams at times.
