I was just going to say, the snow is here, so it has to be there too.

Over a foot on the passes already, the very first snow of the season. Down to 4,000 ft now, Im at 3,000 . Love seeing it on the high peaks, with the bright red and varied yellows of the trees at the peak colour , still.

Seeing animal movement all over the place.

Jack, I see good snow in your backyard too ! Dont you love it...I sure do.

I'm amazed at the sheer volume of colour on those marten . Not so much on the top sides, as Trapped4ever has in his SE AK lines, but bright underneath in bling, nonetheless.

Ok, when you get them all back , line them up and take some good clear shots of them all, please ! From the big ones to the small !

He has 5 inches of snow at he ranch ..he figures 20 +inches at 9500 ft..that's the highest elevation your were at now.

Cathryn, tell Jerry to take good care out there, there was another grizzly attack in WY., at least the second run in I've heard about within a week. Cant recall the area, but that doesn't matter. Anywhere there are griz , they are mostly of the same attitude and reactionary sensitivity , now.

They haven't gone into torpor yet and the sudden onset of good snow and cold temps has them all moving , finding what they can until they need to find their hole.

There has been some run-ins here too , but most of them, the locals don't report them.

So keep the firepower handy .

Hi yall. I got a few more pics.

North50..shorty is the o e in most of the pics. He actually runs up to them and bites them. Jerry has to ca him off to take the pics.

He doesn't damage the fur.

Pixie..the other one is our oldest dog..we call her the OG...because shes the original and all our dogs are descendants of her except Boss.

he cold and snow bothers her..she will have alot of trouble moving..he said she seized up in him yesterday 3 times and she could hardly get around.

He caught yesterday. 2 have no snow on them..both were still warm to the touch..one of them he actually heard get caught as he came into the set.

He actually haf a marten half eaten a couple days ago. He caught yesterday cannibalistic SOB yesterday

Up in our marten country bobcats will eat those marten. Great pics!

His total catch of fur to date is

62 marten
83 beaver
68 rats
9 badgers 17 yotes and
2 foxes...he saidnhe isn't seeing foxbtraps at any elevation
2 skunks..one striped and one spotted

He's well on his way to 4000.00 after expenses.

He skins as he goes then we work on fur putting in the evenings.

I will post a pic of it when we get it put up but it's gonna be a good while..end of season because he has 3 more out of state trips planned..

First Arkansas right after Thanksgiving.

Then Kansas Jan 7th till about the 28th..depending on the catch.. this is a new trip this year

And then Mississippi from the first of Feb till the and of Feb or the first week of march..depending on the weather and the carch..

In between those trips he will be trapping hard in wv and maybe working a few days along if the weather gets too bad to trap

what an absolute awesome adventure I'm jealous. i only get to trap around home for now someday when the kids are grown i will venture out to trap other states. maine for black bear is one on my bucket list.

How many days does he have left out there to trap ?

He has a trapping trip to Maine in the works to trap a bear.

That and a wolf are on his bucket list.

You will have a lot of fun out of state.

Tommie..he told me earlier he will probably trap til next Tuesday...I think he'll be there till Friday if the weather holds.

Our season starts Sin WV saturday nov 5th. He usually likes to set here the first day but it depends cause a marten out there has more value than a coon here.lol
