Last Friday morning, I open the door to take my two dogs and not 10 yards from my front door is a skunk. I see it at the last second, but it was too late for my wife's boykin spaniel.

We washed him in a baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap mixture. That got the smell off the dog, but hasn't helped the house or anything inside our house.

We have lit candles, sprayed all sorts of stuff, and ran fans. I even went and replaced our home's air filter with a brand new filter. None of this has helped the smell that much.

I'd appreciate any ideas from folks who have experience this lol.

Might have to just burn house down lmao.. If it's really bad might want to go rent one them Ozone machine. I've never used one. But seen one used to take the cigarette stink out of a used pickup truck guy bought. Seems like worked good for that.

Similar thing happened to my cousin. He let his two dogs out before leaving for work and they tangled with a skunk. He then let them in as he left for work and because of a severe cold didn't smell anything. The dogs jumped in bed with his wife and the fecal matter hit the oscillator! The dogs had been all though the house and a real mess. Last I heard, their still married.

First thought to come to my mind was to put the soda, peroxide, soap mixture in a vaporizer and let her rip…maybe even into a cold air return. Never had the problem and never tried my thought!!

Maybe use a spray bottle and spritz any furniture or anything else the dogs came in contact with?

Friends of ours camping both dogs got sprayed they give them a bath in the mixture helped some.
It was a rainy night as well so both dogs in the camper for the night.
She didn't take it well when I asked if she slept well.

I wonder if you put out a few open boxes of baking soda.

Orange degreaser is the only thing that works It has a strong citrus smell
Professional fumigators use it
Fill bowls and sit it around . Buddy of mine had two skunks move in and breed under his floor. Took about five days to clear it out

I am around skunk essence daily, as well as my lovely shop odor that attaches to everything and all the dare to venture into my work place. We are just use to it after 50 years, just another odor that becomes part of our day. Some days are better then others.
