Starting on the stack.
Putting up the beaver I took off the line a couple weeks ago.
They had to go,they were flooding some of my trapping trails.
I will send them to the tanner for use in fur lined moccasins.
The shorter nap of these early beaver are perfect for that use.
Pelts are pretty grey but the fur is nice.

I thought this beaver I skinned today had a real long narrow tail, out of the ordinary for here.

Nice put up!
Great you can use the early ones , the long skinny tail , yes it's not common.
Had a few over the years, and just chalked it up to a young one .

Which type of traps do you usually use for beaver: footholds, body grips or snares? Any one set is your favorite?

Probably 90% of my beaver are harvested with 330's open water and under ice.
I take some beaver under ice with snares and some nuisance beaver with footholds.
I have taken some beaver under ice with footholds just for the novelty.

Nice photos, good job.

The first bottles of Coca Cola contained 3.5 grams of cocaine. That's how our grandparents were able to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow.

Been a long time since I've trapped beaver when our season opens Nov 15th but as I recall we didn't tend to get clear leather until early-mid December.
