Old guys sometimes have trouble setting them too. Till your hand strength builds up and technique improves you can cheat and use a pair of these.............they slip over the levers and give you a lot of leverage advantage. Lots of options like these on ebay. Trap setters.........

Would a beaver bodygrip trap setter be able to set a coilspring?

You can buy setters for coil springs. They slip onto the levers and give you log handles to push on. They give you added leverage also. Would be a great tool for one your age.

I am 80 and if I stand on them I would fall over. My beaver traps I set on the tail gate of the truck and then block them so they can not go off, then go to the creek.......jk

Would a beaver bodygrip trap setter be able to set a coilspring? You've been on this forum for 5 years...and you ain't figured it out yet ? That's the point that so many miss. I don't post much on newbie threads because the left imo is getting in. Remember back in the 70's when no one would help ya because it would be in their opinion less food or money for them? I can respect that, but now it's a new world. My opinion, 75% of the newbies are data collectors, antis. I catch heck about it, but here we are. To the OP, I'll answer your question. Back in my day you wouldn't get served at a bar if you couldn't see over the bar. If you can't set a trap, like I did at your age, then wait till you can if your a trapper.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Pofarmer10.. Ask your parents if you can send me your address in PM.. and well send you a pair of coil spring setters.. They're actually lever extenders..they'll extend the levers 6to 8 inches or so and they make it easier to set the coilsprings because you can use your knees or feet to push the levers down..they enable you to put more pressure on the levers so they're easier to set.
Another thing..if I were you I'd target coons or rats to start because they're somewhat easier to catch and there's more of them.by doing that you will build your confidence as as you start to catch animals and.it will.enable you to become familiar with the trapping process..
Shoot..I yell you what.. just ask your folks if we can send ya a few traps.
Jerrys got some 1.5 Victor's he's not gonna be using and wed be glad to send you some to help you start out.
They're for coon, fox, rats and mink
@ Cathryn That's a most generous offer for this young trapper! @Pofarmer10 Even now, I use setters for my MB 650s; I can set them with my feet, and I do use my feet to release a none target animal. I'll admit setting them by hand is a major struggle, setters are so much easier to use with their mechanical advantage.
