Why do you want to keep track of what others catch? They don't see it JP.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

What in the he'll is yallz problem? I have asked the exact same question before and not caught any slack. LEAVE HIM ALONE!
Yall re being jerks.
How would you feel if your son or daughter was on Here and he was being treated the way you're treating this person.
I don't care if you think he's a kid or you don't have to be rude and ignorant.
Of you don't wanna answer his question ..read and keep going..or better yet don't even read his posts
You're being jerks. Cut it out.
I'm ashamed by the light yall are putting on trappers.
Good grief..You're supposed to adult men. Act like it.
If you don't catch anything and dont wanna admit that then don't but just stop bullying him..and that's EXACTLY why it looks like yall are doing.
That being said Jerry catches about 300 beaver,200 coon,100 to 150 rats, 100 or so yotes and probably 40 to 50 reds.
That's an average year.
He traps in alot of states.

Times have changed, if you want to fall for the innocent kid thing, then post away. Some of us see what's really happening, no offense. My son or daughter wouldn't be posting on the talk at that supposed age. You have to be so tall to ride this ride and prove yourself.

Over the years, cathryn and I haven't always seen eye to eye but I couldn't agree with her above post any more. You guys are being complete jerks!
I think you all need to scroll to the top of the page here, and see what the first 2 words are below the banner.
I find absolutely nothing suspicious about this kid. Someone made an account on here 6 years ago and hasn't posted on it for 3 years. Now this kid is and I don't find it a bit strange he would use the account of his older brother who "outgrew" trapping and passed on his traps and Tman account to little bro before going off to college (or wherever).
Do none of you remember being 11 and wondering "how many" critters you would have to catch before becoming a "real" trapper? Because I sure do.
I also remember not being able to set traps... even with my feet! My grandfather would wire them open for me and if I had a catch or sprung trap I'd have pack it home again to be reset.
I think I'm glad this forum wasn't around then because if I'd found it in those days and received this reception I imagine I'd have hung up my traps.
Pofarmer... ignore the mean posts and just keep trapping.
Cathryn... super cool you offering to send him a starter pack!

J ust to see how many a "good" trapper gets. (I am not a good trapper) Don't do that. There is a very diverse crowd here and what may be alot for some is few for others. That and the days of the high price fur long liner are pretty much over for now. There are still a few punching in sets and moving down the line but by and large folks are nuisance trapping, adc or targeting very select top dollar stuff. And quite often are doing value added stuff like glands, skulls, tanned on top of that. My point being thats it's not always about numbers. It can be profitability, targeting a specific problem animal or just pleasure. Don't set yourself up for disappointment by comparing to others. X2

What tale does it tell? I was mercilessly ridiculed in school for being the only girl that hunted and trapped. But from the time I was about 7 years old I idolized real trappers. The constant abuse I took from my so called peers never caused me to miss a day on the trapline, but had I stumbled onto a forum of my "real" idol trappers as a kid and immediately been called a liar for no reason...

There you go again, making me squint. Answering your first question, I amungst many wouldn't have hung up their traps for no one. I respect the fact that your were a young Lady and kept after it, I do. In the 70's we didn't have sites, cell phones. It was so competitive that when you went to the buyer, you were basically mugged by trappers wanting to know all about your catch. I could go on and on but it's not worth it to me. If your ok with telling newbies what you caught, how you catch them, then rock on and do it. I won't because I believe what you don't see is the anti's have infiltrated and are not good for the trapping community.

After reading all kinds of books on trapping, a lot of them are about the numbers game. I realized that hundreds of yotes or beavers per season is not achievable for me. I had to remember that I’m doing this for the fun of it. A lotta great stuff in books to ensure that the limited number of sets you do have out have a better chance of catching. Another thing is how there’s guys out there that contradict each other, what works for some may not work for others, but it adds more to your tool box. A friend of mine runs a high end golf course near by that had beaver issues. He hired 3 different guys one after the other. The 2nd guy said the 1st guy didn’t know what he was doing, 3rd guy said they’re both idiots. I guess all 3 were. In the end my bud shot more than 20 beavers over 2 years. That’s kinda the beauty about trapping, the learning curve never really flattens out. The ugly side is “if you don’t do it like this, you won’t catch anything”….lol

22 I understand the paranoia and do believe anti's mine this site. However, wanting to know how to set a trap or how many critters you catch is nothing the anti's could really use. If they do, who gives a flip, antis are going to lie regardless of the information they get on t-man.

As with me and apparently some, we'll pass. Leave yotetrapper30 alone too. Why are you being so hateful and mean? What's your deal?? If I was a kid in this situation I'd probably throw in the towel to or at least think..wow..I don't wanna be a trapper they're jerks The antis were on this site way before this boy posted. And what you don't understand is that they don't need to infiltrate tman..they can view it without joining. Why do we need antis to stop trapping when we have so called "trappers" who are running off potential trappers by posts like the ones yall are making. And what does a catch number do for an anti? And if you choose to pass on posting them PASS..as in...dont post.. It's ridiculous. Its amazing how a person's posts show their soul. And some of yall got ugly souls. If this 11 year old was at a convention and asked the same question of you would you be jerks to him, or are you just being jerks because you're hiding behind a keyboard? And if you were..and he was my kid..that'd be a big mistake on your part. Leave him alone..stop displaying your ignorance..even though people aren't posting it..I know for a fact..through pm..that you're only hurting yourself..and your reputation among trappers on this site.. by showing your negativiety. And plain meaness to this boy. Didn't your mother ever teach you if you can't say anything nice, keep your "trap" shut? If she didn't she should have. If you wanna attack me..bring it on...let's go there...we can do that...I'm not scared.....but Leave this boy alone.

J ust to see how many a "good" trapper gets. (I am not a good trapper) Numbers don't always mean good or bad trapper. I set 6 mouse traps the other day and had 5 mice next morning. Then I reset and had 4 the next day and three the next. One might think that would make me a good trapper. I just see it as I had a mouse problem in my shed. Been couple days now nothing. So I guess I went from great trapper to sucking. Lmao.. I haven't set any traps for other critters yet. Not sure if I will. Personal issues im not going into here..if I do I will play the game and post here. Mac

I caught 834 coyotes last week. And 104 bobcats and 18 mountain lions yesterday.
Too early here. Killing feral pigs this month. Deer next and trapping in December/January.
As for the kid, archives little one. Archives. 18 mountain lions? C'mon, man!

Some on Tman don't want to post what they catch because they catch NOTHING. The only trapping they do is the occassional mouse in their pantry.
Pofarmer10, I like to see kids with your interest in trapping. Keep at it. Some of us enjoy the younger folks being here on Tman. You are the future of trapping....not those old guys.
As for me: a few days ago I finished up a coyote job for a cattle farm. Caught 8 coyotes, 18 coons, and 2 possums. Also caught 3 bobcats that I released due to season not open yet. Check out the post I made on that..October Coyote Job.
I will post future trapping work as I have several more lined up starting in December.
