She is doing a picture of zippie dog and I can't wait to see it but I don't want her to get in a hurry. [Linked Image]
Not this picture but it's one of my favorite.

Many thanks , everyone. When a trapper approves, it means I've got it right.

And yes, Zippie's portrait is taking shape. She is a pretty dog and every time I do a portrait , studying details, I feel I know them that much better. Same with people.

All thanks , from me, goes to Mike , who is a great editor to work with. And JR. For taking such good shots and sharing his world .

That is amazing! How many hours do you think you have into it?

30/06, it took time ! First, gathering the photos from JR’s collection of mountains , deciding what ones I liked , and where to blend different ranges also took some mental time. The Wolverine was easy, as JR had sent that to me a long time ago. Finding several shots of the kind of northern lights I wanted , took some hunting time. Transferring the outline proof sketch onto the paper, then colouring it all in. I think the time it takes mentally to figure out what to do , and the research is often not considered when calculating the amount of time that goes into a job. Before pencil is put to paper.

During this time, a lightning fire in the national forest was close to my cabin and I was meeting with smokejumper teams, waving at choppers hauling water over my roof from the big river next to me , and meeting fire fighters about every day. Those interruptions cost me some days as I worked on this job. A new experience for my focus in multitasking. They soon had it at a good controlled burn, which is what the whole mountain quadrant next to me needed anyway. Great new friends I met , they took good care of me and the few other houses on this road.

So, amidst all that fun, I think I had around 14 “work hour days” into this. From mental conception, gathering research references, to finished. I feel I know JR ‘s mountain ranges, a few of them, that much better after spending time on their dimensions and lighting.

I'm interested in the "snarl" you added that isn't on the face in the picture. Did you do that from memory/experience, or from a different pic. The snarl is what they look like when their foot is in a trap and you're walking up to them!

Nice one Sharon.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

That picture was taken on the Virginia West Virginia state line it's over looking McDowell county. A place we we hunt and trap zip wasn't just a dog but a companion something completely different.
