I had read that ragweed seeds were edible. The seeds are 47% protein and were a staple of many Native Americans. I have lots of both regular ragweed and giant ragweed on my farm. I tried some giant ragweed seeds this evening and they were surprisingly good to eat. They tasted similar to sunflower seeds, which I like a lot, but even better. I recommend trying some.

Most of the doves I kill and many of the pheasants crops are filled with ragweed seeds.

I heard that they are nutritious. I will try making a tea with a few.

Common ragweed is the #1 bobwhite food in most areas. The birds here hammer the seeds. Giant ragweed is suppose to be less preferred by birds but I have watched chickadees, sparrows, titmice, and even a rose breasted grosbeak filling up on them.

Maybe eating the seeds would be a good thing for people who are allergic to rag weed pollen?? Just wondering.

I wondered about that too. I've heard of people getting immunity to poison ivy by eating tiny portions of the leaves over time.
