Short Track OP trapper Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 282 New York	How is coon season going ? My season opened, but I normally wait until Thanksgiving. I like them fluffier, and not blue. Just a weekend trapper...

Lance Squires trapper L Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 622 Wisconsin	I pulled my coyote traps and started on the coon 5 days ago. The big boars are looking pretty good but the young of the year have slatey leather still. The females that had litters are not very good. I've caught over 50 but have only put up about 15 so far. Like the coyotes, they need to be thinned on the farms that I trap. 57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

bblwi trapper B Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 11,359 East-Central Wisconsin	I have 3 to date, all caught the last 2 days. The two females are big and based on how fat they are and no sign of nipples etc. I am guessing they did not raise litters this year. The male is quite big, maybe 20-22 lbs and really well furred. If they turn even slightly slate or bluish I will tan them as well furred as they are with the market being as selective as it is right now. Bryce
