I have a Stevens 200 22-250 that shoots like no other but is in rough shape. I have a guy that will dip the stock but never has done a whole gun. My question is can you do a whole gun?? Do you have to take it all apart dip separate?? The blue has rubbed thin on the barrel and it's not super pretty and I wouldn't mind having the whole thing dipped. I wasn't sure how some one would keep the dip and water out of the action as your dipping, I'm not a Smith by no means so I don't have tools to get the barrel off just to dip the barrel and stock.. just curious if it too much work I may go the route with a wrap.

Yes, down to bare parts, stripped of all oils/solvents that would prevent adhesion, bores/holes plugged or taped off.

Theoretically you could do the whole thing assembled if made water tight but the film would then be solid over all of the seams and joints required for disassembly and would require careful cutting to do so.

A barreled action wouldn't need disassembly if there are no plans to swap barrels anytime soon.

For a bolt gun the raceway is plugged with a fitted dowel and the below the stockline portion can be taped or plugged. The trigger and bottom metal/magazine removed.
