Got my first deer a few weeks ago.

I saw the deer a few weeks earlier. And when we were going to school I saw him, so we went home and got my gun and license. And when we went back he was stood up and not far away. And I got him in one shot.

Missing school didn't seem that important that day did it? You'll remember that deer forever, you would have forgotten about that day at school by next week.

Congratulations, nice deer. A young man of few words I see. You need to really build up the story. How long you have been hunting and preparing for seasion, scouting, sighting in you deer slayer, conditions of the hunt like temp and wind, the mud sticking to your boots or dust in your eyes. The thrill of the stalk and adrenalin ruch when you saw him, distance of the shot, hit location reaction to the shot ie distance ran or dropped. The 10 mile up hill drag out in the blizzard. Those kind of things.

Maybe even how you worked 3 summers to save up for your rifle or how it was a gift from dad or grandpa.


That's working on your story telling building it up just a little.

So this was a field trip day, RIGHT

Dad and I had been out hunting for a few days we walked a few miles and only saw does and one young buck. I had my 243 that I got for Christmas with a Burris scope that was sighted in. The last night my dad could go hunting with me we saw the young buck. He was a 3 by 4 but a little deer. He was to little for me though. My dad had to go to work the next day and I had to go to school. I had seen a nice 4 by 5 when my mom and I went to school. I remembered about the deer and was going to go search for him after school. When I got back from school I went to look for the deer. I saw a coyote run across the road, and grabbed my gun and looked for him. When I was looking for the coyote I saw a group of deer I searched for the 4 by 5. There was only 7 does though. So I shot a porcupine and went home. But when my mom and went to school I saw him sitting on the creek by some trees. I made the decision to go home and grab my gun. My mom didn’t know much about hunting so was texting my aunt. Her and my grandpa were going to go move cows but we told them about it at the perfect time and she came down the road and picked me up. We stop and get the dogs of of her truck, and we head for the creek. She was asking me questions about the deer . She asked me what I wanted to brace up on and I said on would just get up on the flat bed. When we got to the creek was was close about 50 yards. I get out quietly and get on the fat bed. I get into position and I am super nervous about missing and this deer running away. But I get the cross hairs on him and pull the trigger. It was a good shot and he didn’t make it 20 yards and dropped. We got pictures and my mom and grandpa showed up and helped me gut it. We hauled it into town and I didn’t have to go to school. It all worked out perfectly because my dad couldn’t get of work and we asked my aunt for help right before they were going to go move cows.

I think I hit him right in the lungs though and used my good 100 grain bullets. My gun was a 243 weatherby

Good job realmccoy! Nice deer, I’ve never killed a mule deer. Did travel out there to kill an antelope this fall, just below Sheridan. What part of Wyoming do you hunt? Good job good shooting
