Got a new pup today. Kids and wife want to name her Chloe. Old dog is Macy. Read that on 2 syllable words, dogs here long e sounds really well. Will the same sounding ending confuse these two in the field with wind, grass ect?

In my opinion, NO. I have two dogs names ending in an EE sound and they definitely know which one I am talking to.

x2, I've noticed. it seems like most dog names end with a long E sound, and all my hounds know EXACTLY who I'm yellng at! lol

Every kid needs a Dog and a Curmudgeon.

Good to hear. My 3 year old came up with it and he was pretty excited. Apparently its a character off the cartoon Bluey, which is probably the funniest modern cartoon I have the pleasure of being made to watch.

Single syllable words are better for commands in training - including a name. If its a pet/companion canine, 2 syllables are ok.............. My bud had a dog named Cigarette that reacted to any word that started with Cig, (Sigmund, cigar, sigmoid etc.). He imprinted the first syllable of his name when he was young and it stuck when he was called, scolded, or praised. ..................... the mike

What really can cause problems, is when you have a Wife or Daughter that has the same first name as the DOG!!
