Haven't been in about five years, not a fan whatsoever..... generally not comfortable in churches.. Won't get I to why ..still Christian still read the Bible and feel pretty close to the big guy, just now desire to deal with churches..... Stopped at my old church to see my dad about something and he introduced me to the new pastor they have..... Younger guy.... Very..... Different.

He asked if I'd mind talking with him for a little bit... Figured it was going to be a pitch to why I need to come back but no. 10mim turned do to 30 and that two two hours......

Think I'm going to start going back, at least a little...

Wolfdog, hope you enjoy going back. With as many churches as there are (around here at least) there seems to be a little something for everyone. The one we go to does not have a “traditional” preacher, but I get more from it than any I’ve ever been to. Ours preaches to an already saved congregation versus some who seem to only want to preach to the unsaved. It made going to church more enjoyable than it has been in the past.

I’ll be praying for you wolfdog. I was in a situation where I grew up catholic. I grew tired of people acting holy in church and the opposite outside. My priest was a total jerk. And I was sickened by the child molestation. I wrote off church. I said the outdoors was my church, I could be closer to God in his wild creation far more than any building. I got married to a “crazy” Pentecostal gal, went to her church although everyone including myself thought I was crazy attending there. But I noticed how happy the kids were there, and figured someday my kids could go there. It would be a sacrifice I’d make for the family. Long story short I was invited by a friend to go to a men’s retreat and God changed everything. My life will never be the same. I’m praying that’s the same for you.

I have spent the last year pondering issues like this. I rarely go to Mass. It's not the Church that bothers me (I kind of enjoy Mass), it's the people.

There are some very good preachers out there now....I call them newer generation preachers and better music etc....Praise god for that or I wouldnt go either.

The right church that actually preaches and teaches the Bible line by line in order not picking a chapter or few versed and using it for a spring board but stuck to the word made a huge difference for me. My church will also not worry about hurting feelings or being politically correct and won't shy away from any topic. It's very refreshing.

I look forward to church now, on Sundays I'm at church if not at work. Sunday morning, Sunday evening, wensday evening, 2x a month community group Bible study on Saturday. Boy I never dreamed I would be that guy and enjoy it and look forward to it. I can't wait to be with my church family and I'm grouchy and irritable when I have to miss.

We even didn't hunt the youth hunt this year on Sunday Never dreamed anything could take priority over taking the kids hunting but it did.


I'm happy, more layed back, don't get angry or blow up as often or as easily. Less judgmental and more understanding.
There are a lot of churches out there but not many stick to preaching God's word and finding one that does made all the difference for me.

Wolfdog91, I have met with God many times in his creation and have had some incredible experiences and in some cases gained a better understanding of His Word in the outdoors but this does not replace the fellowship of the Church. It is important that the pastor preach the word as presented in God's Word not some off the wall interpretation of it, I hope your return to Church will work out for you, if this one doesn't work pray about it and God will guide you to the congregation where he wants you to be. I quit going for several years because of some things that happened, I didn't lose faith in God but I did lose faith in how some churches operated and how some pastor's operated, many years ago God revealed to me through His Word that we needed to be a part of a fellowship to grow as a Christian and I tried visiting a few Churches and finally I felt a strong draw to a particular one and upon visiting there I knew I was where I was supposed to be. God has moved me to another Church now but I also feel strongly that that is the Church God wants me to attend.

Don't wait until you find the perfect church before you start attending regularly.
If you do find the perfect church and start attending, you'll ruin it.

That's an old church joke, but you get the point; just go.

If you're in the northern portion of Michigan's northern peninsula, stop on in Sunday's service is at 10:00. Tuesday's us men gather for fellowship, Bible study as we carve diamond willow... so bring a knife.
I'm preaching straight through the Apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesians. Started in 1:1 and we'll end in 6:24 during these weeks.

A number of us are heading over to do yard leaves for a church member who has grave cancer this week.
You see church is a community.
A body.
Of Christ.
So welcome back brother!

Oh, and every single last one of us is an imperfect person.
Glorious, perfected people won't happen again until Jesus returns.

I’m glad you’ve found some place you feel at home.

I don't go to church. I do hang out from time to time with a few who do. They don't preach to me, nor offer me a sermon, nor ask me to come to church.
We just talk about life. I enjoy every minute of it.
