Except for the tail that looks more like an ocelot to me than a bobcat. It sure is well spotted. I caught a number of bobcats when living in western Ky and unfortunately none had spotted backs like that.

Northwest Illinois, wow! But you all have more patches of forest than say out here in eastern Dakota or at least that's what I see in my mind. But maybe there is hope for us yet in se SD to have a sustained bobcat population.

A kid caught one here about 10-15 miles southeast of me a few years back. He had to give it up to the state agency. They put the hide up for sale in their yearly auction of wildlife parts they had acquired over the year, such as antlers, etc. Most of the people at the auction had gotten word about the kid's story and declined to bid on it when the bcat hide was offered. Except for one jack*** who didn't care. The family got the hide back but it cost them a good amount of coin.

Kev, been hearing several stories of bobcats walking around the Rockford area in daylight hours for years...now there's proof. Nice 'cat!
