I took the new squirrel rifle to the range today for some offhand shooting. I've been working up a load from the bench at 25 yards and found one I was happy with. 45 grains of 3F goex, a .350 ball and an .018 patch. I always shoot a bit different offhand than from a bench, so from here on out all sight adjustments will be made offhand. Looks like from today I need to move the rear sight left, but up down isn't too bad.

Heres a link to a video of me shooting a 5 shot target.

45 grns, I bet that thing cracks. What do you think it's running, 1800-1900? That'll sure splatter a squirrel.
Mine shot better fast. I made up another dipper, 20 or so just to shoot squirrel with.

This usually helps me when developing a load.

K - that rifle has an incredibly fast lock time! No fizzzzzzzzzzz-crack. More like a black powder 10/22!
Beautiful too!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

L&R locks can get a bad rap at times, but I have two and they are very fast. A queen Anne on a fowler and this rifle has their Dickert lock. Very fast and very reliable.

Its a head shot only game for me. This load will pretty much remove the head. I have no idea what the speed is, I don't have a chrono, or know anyone that does.
