Anyone have a good solution for watering a couple pigs in the winter in the north? I have electricity fairly close and could probably run a cord but I don't want something that auto fills as I don't want to have to dig it in. A dish with a heater doesn't work, they just tip it.

How many hogs? I just keep two around for friends and family. I just use rubber dishes. Fill em morning and night. The rubber bowl is flexible so whatever is left for ice pops out. My hogs are outside so they eat snow as well.

There’s a 1500w heater that floats in the top of the barrel that will keep it from freezing. I use plastic 55 gallon drums with a hog nipple in it. There around 50.00 at tsc.

Thanks for the replies, only 2 or three hogs. Trying to make everything simple as it looks like I may be working all winter.

Looking to buy some babies this fall while they are cheap and butcher them next summer for a pig roast and to fill the freezer.

Here’s this, if you can find a used one they do work pretty good we used to have but sold it a few years back.

If you can keep it inside it really helps with it not freezing up.

Following this thread I’ve got 10 hogs I’m fattening up

I bought a used galvanized tank with a side drinker like that Sioux tank but the floats not working right, gonna try a new float set up and see how that works

Look into Ritchie for valves and floats they have quite a selection if you can make something work, we’ve had very good luck with their automatic waters.
