Anyone ever used gizzard shad to make fish oil? I have two or three gallons that are preserved with SB. I pulled out half a gallon from last year, and it had a very dark fluid on top. The shad themselves had broken down to a boney paste, under the fluid. Because I preserved it all fresh, with no taint, it has a nice almost sweet fish oil smell. The fluid isn't very thick, but I figured I could add a thickener to it, if need be, to use it as a trailing scent or smear lure. The shad themselves have already proven to be very good fur producers.

I don't have gizzards shad where I live but I would do like you if I did.

Only one sure way to find out. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
