Not our Buzzard, real turkey buzzard vultures. I see conflicting beliefs. One landed in a tree this morning, eyeing our chickens. So I eliminated any threat.

The black headed meskin vultures will. They will also peck the eye balls out of a new calfs eyes if the momma cow cant get up quick enough to run them off

These are in Arkansas. Haven't been a problem but just seemed too interested this morning.

They are quick to figure out a vulnerability or weakness and take advantage. Don't believe the fools who say they are carrion only. They'll pick at anything down or weak and unable to defend itself.
A grown healthy chicken should be able to outrun one but the same chicken cornered or down won't last long.

Under the Migratory bird treaty act of 1918. It is illegal to kill turkey vultures.
That said I have never heard of anyone having a problem with chickens and turkeys vultures. Turkey vultures don't have talons, black vultures do. Black vultures have been spreading northward for some time now. Was a very interesting thread on this forum not to long ago on both vultures

My son has said that during calving season they have to stand guard over the newborns because the buzzards (vultures) will take advantage of the weak.
