Been wanting to catch one for a few years and today I connected. I have never really set a badger specific set but I have seen sign in areas I had canine sets. I was pulling traps for firearm deer opener and our badger season ends the 14th. I know some of you guys catch badger regularly but this one s my first and it's really cool. [Linked Image]

Excellent, man! WTG! Hope you're having it tanned or mounted.

Jack

Always fun getting a first especially a bucket list critter. Great job!

I plan on one or the other, cost is a big factor. I know I can skin it and have it tanned for way less. Mounts seem to get neglected around my home since I am the only one who likes them.

Wish I had more time to trap....

First of any trapped species is great-you will always remember the firsts.
I would get it tanned complete. You can always get it rugged later or made into a nice hat.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Saw my first and only badger while turkey hunting in Kansas many years ago. I quickly learned it wasn’t a critter you could just shoo away, lol. He got the right of way and I took a detour! A feisty critter for sure, couldn’t imagine one’s disposition in a trap.

Tanning is where I am gonna start. It was very cool to come up on it. I will always remember the catch circle. I at first thought I lost something then it dawned on me that I was in a badger area. She was hiding in a hole. If it wasn't for big tree roots it would have been more I am sure.

Wish I had more time to trap....

I was very surprised how docile it was in the trap. Let me get a catch all around its neck and pull it out of the hole. One tap on the nose with my trowel and it was lights out.

Haha! I was heading to a gobbling bird and had a tree picked out I was trying to get to before calling again. He wanted that same tree and let me know it was HIS tree. I don’t pay attention if there was a den around or not, but he got that tree and I circled around.
