I had the wolves running the deer around today as well as a BIG mid day bear. He needs to go to bed!

I have nothing clever to put here.

This I highly doubt! whistle

Worst year for "rutting" activity I've ever seen.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

I have yet to see a buck chasing a doe and the does still have fawns with them. I found a fresh scrape made today between 1000 and 1300. I remember a year 10-12 years ago where the bucks went CRAZY the last weekend of rifle season. This year could be similar.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I got lucky on the opener and got a 7 point and a spike buck. My youngest daughter finally got the day off from work and made it out. Hour and 20 minutes later she dropped this nice buck. I'm a proud dad.

Thanks. We take the time to clean all blood. Put tongue back in the mouth. Find a nice background and take a lot of pictures. Can't redo after the deer is skinned.

Plenty to be proud of there. Daughter hunting with you, gets a nice buck, and she has a job that see takes seriously! Well done.

A pack of coyotes have moved in overnight. Barking, yiping, howling. Hopefully they come out where I can see them. It's pretty tough hunting with all this ruckus. With any luck a couple found the snares I have out.

Pat, can describe the ruckus? I told my wife that velociraptors pulled down something in the woods about a hundred yards away. Sounded like the feeding scene from Jurassic park. I think it was two predators fighting over who was gonna eat it while killing a bird.

Great picture and shows the respect you have by taking the time to clean up the deer and set up the shot. I try to install that attitude into others but it seems to fall on deaf ears as they never tuck in the tongue. Really, how hard is that?

Pat, hope your right about the dogs finding your snares. We added a few tracking us last night while tracking a doe. LO said to go after them Monday.

Scott, nice to hear your dad still gets out. Nice to have a kid who is willing to take the time to take him out. Will luck he'll get his deer this time!

Pat I just dont know. I'm out of traditional bobcat range, but Bobcats have been caught a lot further south than this.

Are you sure those noises aren't some of your party in the outhouse?

I think you're a bit confused with your hunting guests. I know you feed them all hormel chilie and buckhorn light for dinner every night.

Swampgas chili and Blatz! One week left for us here. I am still seeing the same deer in the same places at the same time everyday. No sign of the rut yet. It is the strangest year I have seen.

Are not the off-season ice fishing shacks not reserved for the party houses....when did they turn to using outhouses ?

SAw 2 bucks bedding in the open with their lady friends on the weekend...is that not rut in it's peak

I don't believe the rut has happened where I am. We saw a total of 4 bucks. All were alone. 3 went to the garage, and they all had close to 2 inches of fat on their back. Usually when they are running hard they burn off that fat. They didn't have that stinky old buck smell to them either. This was the first year we saw very few deer. Last night was the only day of the season was saw a lot of deer (about 20). We didn't see much for lone fawns, they were all with does.
