I've been slowly making sterling swivels, I had made some in the past and I always used to use 30D nails for the hoop, a 1/4 heavy nut and a 20D for my J hook. I think this time around I'm going to use 20D for the whole thing and I just ordered 100 1/4 nuts.

I see guys using 30D and 40D nails and 5/16 nuts.
I also have see some guys weld their J hooks closed. I never have.

So you guys out there that make your own, How do you make them??
