Two of them dug up and bait stolen. Dirt hole sets. One was fired, the other was not.

Fox?

Grey's like to dig'm up like that other wise it's hard to say. I would make sure your traps are bedded properly and if your using a dirt hole, make sure your hole is deep like 12"-16".

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I don't believe it had anything to do with the MB550s, most likely poorly bedded traps or the traps were contaminated with bait and/or lure. Throw something different at them, keep it clean and well bedded.

Not sure why traps were mentioned, but it has nothing to do with trap brand.
Bedding issue most likely. You want it bedded tight enough a 150 pound deer could step on the jaw and it not move. Critters won’t dig if they don’t know anything is there.
You mentioned dirt hole and bait stolen. Three possibilities here as well. First the obvious, hole wasn’t deep enough. Second, you likely spilled bait/lure in the trap bed or on the covered trap. Third, the trap was bedded too close to the hole and when they started digging for the bait they uncovered the trap.

Thanks all. This is my second season so I’m pretty green. I just posted what traps I was using because I figure that someone may ask.

At least I’m getting interest in my sets so I know what inhave to do to be more successful.

What did you use for pan cover? In my experience raccoons will smell or detect waxed paper and coffee filters. They work around the edge then dig up. The waxed paper is always crumpled and unfolded to take out the crinkle. Both materials well aired out.

What model Martin? Style?

I’m using a square of duct insulation under the pan. No cover.

Have a few Martins. HD28, D18 Standard, a Road Series, GPC28E and traded a few other guitars for one of the new 37’ D18 Authentics.

Got a Game Cam? Beg, Borrow or Buy one for future use on the line. Reset with everything you did the first time and set the camera (even if you have to fasten it to an electric fence post as a stake). Should solve your mystery as we can make a lot of guesses for you. ........................... the mike

I use many step-in type electric fence posts for camera mounts.
Cut them to half length to increase stiffness and decrease wind movement.
I drill a 3/8” hole so the screw in camera mount threads right in.
If you don’t have anything similar, use black electrical tape to fasten the camera to the post.
Don’t cover a sensor or lens - I’ve done it.
Set the camera for quick videos.

Nice guitars. Certainly the most important plus some. The ‘37 D-18 Authentic should be fantastic.
I am down to two Martin lifers. A 2008 D-21 Special and a 2010 OM-21 Special. They look and sound like pulled from the ‘30s.
Also a couple Larrivee lifers - a custom shop parlor model and a D body 12 string that is always in tune!
