Irizarry says he won't go down for this alone, accusing some long-trusted DEA colleagues of joining him in skimming millions of dollars from drug money laundering stings to fund a decade’s worth of luxury overseas travel, fine dining, top seats at sporting events and frat house-style debauchery.

Quote
“You can’t win an unwinnable war. DEA knows this and the agents know this,” Irizarry said. “There’s so much dope leaving Colombia. And there’s so much money. We know we’re not making a difference.”

With the efficiency the government is doing things, they should start a war on work. Then everyone would have a job

Let's go Brandon

We could win the war on drunk driving and speeding the same way.

If we use the death penalty, after we execute 95% of all the judges , prosecutors, cops, and prison guards, who will do the arresting, prosecuting, sentencing, and executing?

anybody bother to read that article????????????????

I read it and was not shocked.

LEGALIZE ALL DRUGS. Allow adults to make their own decisions, put the Cartels out of business, thin out the herd and generate some tax revenue--and cut my taxes. We'll thankfully have to end welfare too.

End all gun regulations too because there may be some shooting required until we reach societal equilibrium. I will want some full autos.

Freedom, most importantly, will be the result.

Im down for the war on drugs for people under 18, and highly potent drugs like fentanyl where overdoses are high. Other than that, its a waste of time for marijuana, cocaine, mushrooms, anything that has an example in nature. To argue a ban for it is anti conservative, and if we want to be high speed and really make things efficient, we can be uniform across the board. That means, no caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, ibuprofen, tylenol, energy drinks, etc.

Only way to win the war is if convince folks a sober life is better.Remove the demand then the supply side will go belly up. Simple economics.

Chronic drug use is a symptom of an over-indulgent and spoiled nation. Get rid of the handouts, as painful as it will be, and the drug users will be forced to make a decision to eat or do drugs.
Not going to be pretty either way.

What about the consumption of alcohol? What is it a symptom of in society?

ethanol has been a socializing lubricant for many thousands of years. the bible claims jesus turned water into wine for a wedding party. people have been using hallucinogens as religious fuel since the first time somebody ate a mushroom or cactus.

drugs aint going anywhere. pass a new law every day, increase the police force 10% a month for ten years, it wont change human nature. people are going to get high. making the majority who choose not to or who choose to only occasionally indulge support them is the real crime.

There's no man made solution for drug use. At best, drug use should have been left alone. Men saw the destruction of drug use and likely out of good intent made it unlawful. Now, if .gov was to legalize drug use, they legitimize drug use creating more addicts. We have a Pandora's box conundrum. Legal or illegal, the drug situation is a good example of the saying, "That the road to (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) is paved with good intentions."
