Cocked the X bow set It against the truck and It just blew up. I think I'm lucky I wasn't carrying It to the blind. Any suggestions on what I should buy and not break the bank? I was looking Into Barnetts but don't know anything about them.

what was it , how old and did you call the manufacture
a replacement under warrantee for a returned one is a less expensive option than buying anything

One limb was torn off It's mounting bolt. I don't know If the limb broke or the trigger mechanism let go and It dry fried. I never place a bolt till I'm in the blind. I've had this X bow(Horton) for over 18 years so It dosen't owe me anything and I've killed a lot of deer with It.

I don't know much about xbows , Conner over at CT's in Monroe has some good options on xbows and they have an indoor range so you can get all set up
last time I asked he had them over a range of prices and they fix stuff there
they have been a huge help when my son was shooting 4-H archery , they are very good supporter of the GC-4-H archery program
if I was looking in this area it is worth a stop to see them.

I just looked It over and the cable was still engaged In the trigger system so It had to be limb problem.

Supposed to replace cables and string on crossbows annually. If you don't....you are asking for it. Very high tension on that short system.

Ive been happy with my TenPoint Acudraw. Still have my Horton but that 180lb draw without an assist isnhard on you and near impossible to set in the stand. If you go xbow. Do yourself a favor and get one with a built in cocking system. With those you can (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) in the stand when needed.

The cables where fine and they had been replaced 2 years ago. It was limb failure, in fact the other limb that was still attached to the frame had some hair line cracks In It. Don't know If those cracks were the result of the other limb letting go.
Going shopping tommrow.

Not high tech like the reverse limb wheel bows, but I really like the simplicity of my Excalibur crossbow. Easy to change the string when needed and very accurate. I would buy another with no hesitation.
