I know, should be easy to catch but these guys are giving me fits. It’s a good sized pond, very rocky bottom. I’ve seen some old bank dens but they don’t look to be used. They have built a hut underneath a small dock on the one end of the pond. Water is a couple feet deep at the end of the dock and I’ve seen them swimming to and from the hut there. Set off the end of the dock with a couple conibears on stands but they are either swimming around, over or under them. Any ideas? Sorry no pics but maybe I can get some tomorrow.

Or parsnip.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Thanks guys. I rarely bait my conibears so it never hit me. Appreciate you getting me thru this “duh” moment!

I tried getting a rod in the pond bottom….no go. I can barely push a conibear holder in there. Almost thought of stapling them to the end of the dock

Is the pond froze? If not put a float in and try that. If it is froze hang your body gripper through the ice.

No, we are not allowed to. Plus it is up under the dock enough that I don’t think I could set on it even if legal.

If allowable set foot holds on the hut under the dock. Rats will spend a lot of time under that cover.
