"185 feral horses before I lost count"

Wyoming has its fair share also.

Something more permanent needs to be put in place for that problem.

Ducks. Pungo National Wildlife Refuge leased farmland with a stipulation that some percentage of grain crops had to be left for animals and waterfowl. So many ducks flew up about 50 years ago one afternoon that they darkened the sky. I assume they were mallards. It was very late in the afternoon. Doubt there are that many ducks in the entire state now.

I saw a school of herring once that probably numbered in the millions; does that count?

A most amazing sight is also the Sandhill crane migration, their flocks will go by all day with few breaks.

I was ferrying a Piper PA12 from Cosmos, Minn. to Fairbanks, AK in the spring. Went through customs at Intl. Peace Gardens in N Dakota. For 12 hours in Manitoba and Saskatchewan there were literally millions of snow geese in the air at all altitudes and flying every which direction. Took concentrated flying effort to not have a mid-air.It was certainly dicey flying.

...And waggler. I never thought about the Sitka Sound herring fishery. That is impressive. Add in the hundreds of boats, the whales, sea lions, seals, spotter airplanes and a thousand bald eagles overhead...what an experience!
