Howdy!
Here's my situation. I make my own catfood from wildcrafted meat. Bushmeat. I want to increase the nutritional content of the food by grinding up the bones for calcium. I don't want to add calcium tablets because my mom almost died from hypercalcemia from taking calcium pills. I figure the best way to get them calcium is by grinding up the bones from the critters I feed them and incorporating it into the food.
Does anyone have any idea how long I have to pressure cook the bones to make them soft enough for a meat grinder?
Thanks!

Can that type of calcium be metabolized readily? There are many kinds of calcium compounds.

Any of the commercial Hobart meat grinders will make short work of bone. Just freeze the carcasses whole. Then cut them into pieces that are small enough to fit down the chute with a band saw. Then feed them in. Two grindings will remove almost all visible traces of bone.

You might have to go with a little less vinegar for the cats
