That's heart wrenching to say the least , the good dogs always seem to go way to soon and every dog is a good one !

We have enjoyed black labs in our family for 40 years.
I am so sorry for your loss.
That loss is a kick in the guts that will take a long time if ever to fade.
Losing a lab can be life altering.
I saw a couple with decades together blow up permanently over a similar situation.
May God help ease your pain and bring peace.

In 2001 we suddenly lost a 4 year old black lab without warning to a brain aneurysm.
I miss him every day.

losing a family member sucks....in time, when you're ready, find a new pup and start over

So sorry. God loans them to us for a short period. You will never forget that dog.

I lost my best friend three years ago. Still miss her. We pulled 75 crab pots every morning in the summer and shared deer stands in the Fall. She could track a wounded deer.
I could talk to my dog just like I might talk to you. She understood what I was asking of her. She also talked back to me, especially when a blue crab crawled up to her end of the boat.
She would nap with me every day at noon, and would tell me when it was time for our one-hour nap. She slept beside my bed and I still feel for her when I get up in the middle of the night. She was a blue heeler that I adopted at a rescue mission. She only ever asked me for one favor. "Wherever you go, take me with you". I'll wait in the truck for you to come back.

I know how you feel. The pain will slowly go away but the memories will last forever.

Sorry for your loss WW. The connection between a good dog and man is incredible.

Keep your head up and comfort your boy, hope this hard day fades as time ticks along. Rocky is pretty dog, hopefully made many memories to share.

John

Man rocky is beautiful and looks just like my lab rem. Rem goes everywhere with me, work everyday, sometimes just to the store and waits in the truck, weekend cabin trips and we are heading to Iowa today for our annual pheasant trip. She is a so, so flusher but a helluva retriever on downed birds. I do not look forward to what you’re going through now! God speed!

So sorry for your loss, What a beautiful lab. We have had labs for the last forty years, And I have learned that every one of them gets the feeling to roam in the wrong places. We had a couple of close calls, After that, They all wear wireless collars. It's a cheap way to keep them safe. I feel a lot at ease when I see them stop short at a certain spot. My wife is crazy about keeping the collars charged.
