After the bump in the market and before March as you said in another post, should a guy move his money out of the market and into a stable cash fund?

I would . No let me rephrase that I DID ! Back when the market fell to 29,000 . IF you have the right stock sell sell sell ! Numbers now are smoke and mirrors.Big jump but then you hear the whining "my 401 k is down 23%" What ever. Haven't checked in couple weeks because been hunting and didn't really care but Monday I'll check see what current cd rates are thru LPL. Got one maturing dec 7 only reason I'm interested. Not going to get rich quick with these but haven't heard me complaining how much I lost in a single day either. !!

You, of course, can do what you want. I would not be seeking financial advice from Jybyrd63. White17 or Steven49er are not the Great Carnac that Jybyrd63 claims to be, but I would bet my last penny their portfolios dwarf the Oracle of Kentucky's.

Wait one minute I NEVER claimed to be anything !!! If you noticed I was ASKED a question . Just answering . People do what they want.

Commodities will depend on IF people have the money to buy. Yes it would seem they might go up but ANYTHING is only worth what people pay for it. If money keeps disappearing by the billions with just a key stroke what are people going to have left to invest ? The merry go round money machine is going to fall of the tracks. You know like that bitcoin go round ! First of many adjustments to follow. When it does remember I told you so....

100"s of companies laying people off . Winter is coming . Plus biden is still president....... nuff said

I don't even like this ole boy but let's call a spade a spade. He was ask, called out, and answered. No one is making you follow it, are they? Most great things do come from KY, just saying.

Steven 49er, you are a humble man, but you do have me by +3 and -1 grin...

By the way, no water down here so no mrats except some bank runners along the streams and some smaller lakes. Almost all sloughs dried up. If this 3 year drought doesn't break in '23, its really going to suck next fall...

Everyone has got their own opinions as do I and I wlil followr mine along with our financial planner who has not contacted me the last 3 months on making major shifts in fund balances. We did a lot of that when the market was at the low ebb. Good recovery so far and a small tax load to make the shift. It will be good to see that our non securities funds will start performing better.

I'd take advice from White of anyone on here but personally I would find a fee only financial planner whose philosophy and expectations mirror my own and will tailor to my wants. Keeping in mind a lot of "financial advisors" any more are nothing more than glorified salesmen.

The stock market is most likely going to get pummeled a bunch more before this mess settles out but there are industries who will survive and strive. We still need the lights turned on, gas in our cars, food in our mouths.

CD rates are getting pretty attractive. 4.5 to 4.8 should be easy to find for a short term contract say 12to30 months.

US government securities is another.

3-Month 3.84%
6-Month 4.34%
1-Year 4.49%
2-Year 4.34%
5-Year 3.82%
10-Year 3.58%
30-Year 3.63%

The bond market is in a free for all no aka blood in the streets. If a person understand the intricacies of trading bonds now could be a really good time. A plus for US securities is they are immune from state and local taxes.

Me? I think i'm going to buy some precious metals, some gun powder and bullets today and that is why I wouldn't take my advice.

WOW 49 er is agreeing with something I suggested. CD's !!!!!!
Like I said, Monday I'll post "CURRENT" cd rates. Last one I got was 4.5 and that was before the feds rate hike. I bet they are some higher. Closer to 5.5 -6
