Hello all! Just finished a good trapping book and it got me to thinking, what books do you feel every outdoorsman needs in their library. Post up a few of your favorites and try to cover several subjects if possible. Thanks!

What book did the ol Lew and Charlie stories that were in the FF&G magazines come from? The Adventures of Lew and Charlie was first published in the 1920s in Fur-Fish-Game. Written for the magazine by Maurice Decker. The stories ran serially for forty years. The Lew and Chartlie stories in F-F-G are reprints of those original stories. There is a ten-volume set available through FFG. Jack

Thanks Gulo I have wondered where those stories originated since I was about 14 years old and got a years subscription to F-F-G and a couple dozen rat traps. Every month I looked forward to every page but I'd read about Lew & Charlie over and over.

The Hatchet Series by Gary Paulsen. Like myself it made many young boys want to hunt, trap, fish, forage and get supremely lucky with a moose kill. Gary died about a year ago, was a great guy.

If you're a whitetail hunter. Whitetail Magic by Roger Rothaar is an excellent read.

Sorry folks. Another self-promo. I don't really do any other advertising. No book signings, etc. Books are available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Trafford Press, etc. I can ship from home if you want books signed. Sorry for the Shanghai of your thread, Guthrie.
