Pop way down around here. Harvesting this fall saw very few and even less over youth weekend.

Are there any days that you’ll be able to make it out?

Saw a dozen or so this mornin. Killed a nice buck at 7:45. Story and pics later.

Seen 1/2 dozen does so far. Freezer is full so I am hunting for horns. Woods is crazy quiet. Not a hint of a breeze and very overcast and damp. Deer are like ghosts can't hear them and tricky to see in low light. Hunting Coshocton county which is usually #1 county in the state and I haven't heard a shot since 9:00am.

I’ve heard five shots all morning. Seen two does so far. It use to be like a war zone around here.

Well folks must have gotten bored. The after lunch shooting started. Sounds like they are getting them moving. Just had a small buck and doe go past. Hopefully the big one is on the move.

Today so far I heard only 2 shots, not close.
Maybe they shot the only 2 deer in this county.

Saw about 20 this morning. Had three bucks within 40 yards, one of which undef 15 before 8am. Buck tag filled so they all got to walk. Had a small doe and her fawn for about an hour before they moved on . Two herds of does fled from the far end of the field, hoped they chose my escape route but they picked the other. Watched another pair of does for two hours before rappelled down at noon.

You guys killed them all during archery / crossbow season. LOL

There is a bit of truth in that... Archery season acccounts for almost half the kill these days. Same point in the season bow kills are +6000 compared to last year.

EHD had hurt a good portion of the state.
Didn't here any shooting on the property i hunt. Heard a few shots on the neighbors.

First off, what a nice mornin. Not cold, no wind, damp and overcast and deer were moving good after a nasty day yesterday. Second, I am not a horn hunter. Old enough to just enjoy being in the deer woods during gun season. I have shot some nice deer and I have passed on plenty over the years. Main thing is just bein in the woods.

At first light a doe appeared in an opening. She was followed by her fawns at 80 yards. By 7:30 I was watchin 7 deer walk out of range and was happy as a lark. Had one in the scope just to see what it looked like.

At 7:45, I happened to be lookin right where this buck came out of the woods into a pipeline at 60 yards. Knew he was bigger than a yearling. Shot with a CVA Hunter .444 Marlin. Mule kicked and did a nose dive. Could tell his leg was busted. Didn't see him fall. Found hair but no blood which was strange because shot passed through. Maybe I shoulda looked harder. Heart shot and went 30 yards.

Bad thing is I only got to hunt 1 day. Warming up tomorrow so will be processing then.

Wife's people had a couple hundred acres near Zanesville and I always wanted to hunt, but never made the time, esp since our season was about same time.

Now, I'm regretting it.
