Talking fox specifically, what can be done to help drying fox heads after skinning ? Coyotes as well, when turning , the pelt is good to go but the face head and neck are still wet. Ive used borax but looking for other options. Thanks

Use quick dispatch snares then you won't have jelly heads, or very few. If that is not legal then leave the pelt on the board until the head is dry. Then rehydrate the pelt10-15 minutes in a damp cloth and turn the pelt. Don't worry about putting the re-hydrated pelt back on the board fur out. The re-hydrated skin dries very well and quickly, unlike a green skin against wood.

Your snares are not working as designed.Animals are alive too long with the snare tight on the neck but not constricting the arteries for a fast dispatch.
Most times the snare is too far back on the neck or a poor lock with insufficient sustained force on the wire to quickly dispatch,or combination.
Entanglement with a kill stick set at the proper distance from the anchor will kill quick as long as the lock is good and the snare high on the neck.
Kill springs will also work if the lock is good, with larger animals like wolf or coyote.
Fox are generally too light to compress a killspring with any effect,a properly set killstick works best for fox.

Use liberal amounts of sawdust when fleshing fatty or messy pelts.

Then, unfortunately, you have no cure for jelly heads. Just treat the pelt as "Boco and I have suggested:
1. Use liberal amounts of sawdust when fleshing fatty or messy pelts.
2. Leave the pelt on the board until the head is dry. Then rehydrate the body of the pelt10-15 minutes in a
damp cloth and then turn fur out.

I have used CRs for years and I may have 1 or 2 jelly heads out of 30 or so yotes. It fleshes off just like any other substances.
