I have a Marlin 81 22lr sitting beside me that has the wrong bolt in it....likely the same model but a different run it variant.

It will fire but the bolt closes with much effort (darn hard to close and lock down) when locked in the down position the rear of the bolt does not align properly.

a different bolt will cost more than the rifle is worth and there is no guarantee that what gets ordered will be the proper variant.

Point is Replacement Bolts can be a crap shoot also.

Anyone need some Marlin Model 81 parts?? LOL

I bought a 7mm mag off a guy one time who told me it had the wrong bolt in it. Winchester model 70 mid 80's I'd guess , $100 bucks when I went to look at it after hear all his hunting stories and about his vast knowledge of firearms, he brought out the rifle and a brand new box of 7mm mouser ammo. Flipped it for over $200 profit 2 days later. Any one need 7mm mouser ammo lol

I'd tell him to deal with it himself or take it to a smith with an FFL.

That was the OLD days, man you're telling your age now! LOL
