Paid 4.99 dozen Brown eggs at Aldis . My chickens slowed down to, Been giving em Black sunflower seeds & some oats for protein. Tried it last year to help quicken the molt, Seemed to work.

Using lights on timers will help chickens to stay laying when the days get shorter.

My daughter wont let me pay her. Im not sure how much she sells them for. Has a lady that buys em all then resells them. I know she raised her price. SIL was telling me they had to cause of feed price. They really took a hit on feed a couple months ago. Mill was broke down. Had to buy bagged feed at tractor supply. Has his Pyrenees guard dogs penned up now too. Deer rifle season. Lose a few birds every year while those dogs are penned up. Coons are the worst at snatching one.

I mostly like to eat. I leave production to others.

I save all my deer scraps to grind and cook. When my birds start to molt, they get a bunch of that meat each day.

we sell for $5 a dozen at market. Local poultry farmer that does pasture raised broilers and layers charges $7 a dozen and gets it.

Depends on the quality, the feed and if the egg seller/farmer knows what they are doing which I find in most cases they do not. That said, one of the things I insist on is that the whites are firm. I have paid as high as $6 but right now for decent quality fresh-I insist on fresh $2.18 for Montana hutterite grown which I do not normally by.
