: Was JFK the last Democrat President that supported the second ammendment? Seems that the rest since would have been happy to see all of us disarmed. What say you? Chris

Well, LBJ signed the NRA's gun control act of 68 into law so I would say he was the last one

Things have been on a long slide since Kennedy was assassinated.
Good thing he wasnt running today-with all his womanizing and carousing the media would have sunk him in record time.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

he was drumming up young men to take up arms in an unwinnable war that Dwight Eisenhower knew was an unwinnable war.
he was overly confident in the American military and was getting ready to drag us into Vietnam go back and listen to his speeches knowing that he knew Eisenhower told him it was not a winnable war and that he knew he wanted to go in.
remember Dwight was the most experienced military strategist of the century had organized D-Day , had run much of WWII , and had intimate understanding of the Korean war.
JFK was a PT boat Lt , who lost got is boat run over by a Japanese ship in the dark, he was a good person and saved as many of his wounded crew as he could.
that didn't make him the best military strategist
He wasn't selling guns in America , he was selling Americans on going to Vietnam.

Vietnam was a winnable war. Just like Korea Iraq and Afghanistan. The military was kept on a tight rein. Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex. The people who profit from war. It was was Walter Cronkite who said it was unwinnable after the Tet offensive. Yet U.S. forces in spite of some really rough days, won every battle. Our military is hogtied. The goal was never to win a military victory in any of those places.

He wouldn’t be a democrat today, far from it. Correct. Apples and oranges.
