Thanks guys!

My buddy Laramy hooked me up with a moose that he got off the trapper list this past weekend and after getting the permit decided to make a run and dump some bait and set a few otter sets.

It was a pretty day out there smile

[Linked Image]

Saw a bunch of these guys. When I talked to Howler when he got back in he said all the big bulls had dropped their antlers. I bumped one group of 7 and 5 where sub legal bulls all with headgear. Really hoping they drop them in the area I seen them!

[Linked Image]

Decided to set a few otter traps and run a few kitty sets. This dude wanted to play peek a boo smile

[Linked Image]

This cat surprised me smile Ear tag and collar. My buddy had caught one last year about 5 miles away as the crow flies that was collard and had the same color tag. So I am thinking it might be part of the same study. His cat was collared on JBER / Anchorage.

Meowch struck again for me smile

Be safe out there guys!

bfisch I hope so to. It seems when it hits the negatives is when they drop them here. Isn't any of that in our forecast for a spell.

Good looking cats HFT.
Too bad about the one with the collar-must have rubbed some fur?

chasin eyes you will have to catch me at a meeting and I will tell you smile

Boco yeah it is rubbed and honestly that has been the sorriest looking cat I have caught on my line over the years. Still pretty cool to connect with one and hopefully the info it provides will help F/G. That one will go on the wall.

Ran today. Pretty warm with a few showers, suppose to cool down starting tomorrow and stay that away.

Picked up another kitty on Meowch smile I think they are going to crash no bunny sign anywhere.

[Linked Image]

This just flat out ticks me off. I posted these signs at the beginning of my line at to different places.

[Linked Image]

Rolling in this am I see ski tracks and dog track, the dog track was all over the place obvious not on a leash. They skied right past this sign.
Now what responsible pet owner would continue?
Well they did and a half mile later found a jack pot. catch circle and a cut snare....Ok.
Do you think they would turn around after catching their dog the first time? Nope.
Mile later they hit a snare line and from the looks of it I caught that dang dog 3 times. 3 more cut snares.
I think they were bunny hunting they didn't mess with the snares that were right beside the others.
This just ticked me off. Is what it is and I hope they dont come back.

Be safe out there guys!

Well went and turned in the collar and got the lynx sealed at Fish and Game.

Got a call from the bio from the Anchorage office. That lynx had been caught and tagged 3 years ago up in Artic Valley right outside of Anchorage.

He said it had traveled from there to the valley twice and totally disappeared last year when the bunnies crashed there. 2 others that were trapped during that same time frame, one was harvested in Haines, and the other down on the Kenia. Pretty amazing how far these jokers will travel.

Of course I had to ask what lure he uses to get them smile He said "Meowch" is his best producer followed by Spicey Purrfect, go figure smile

If you know me you know where it was caught if you don't it was within a hundred mile radius of Willow smile

Be safe out there guys!

I took a buddy out with me today to show him how I set up for lynx. Pretty day out there, fresh snow and low temps.

[Linked Image]

Number 5 on Meowch, smile

[Linked Image]

Cruising down the trail we cut fresh yote track crossing the trail and sure enough, must have just got her a hour or so before we showed up.

[Linked Image]

It snowed maybe inch out there last night was good to see some fresh bunny and yote track!

Be safe out there guys!

Well the temps have dropped in the negatives over the last few days and is starting freeze things up pretty good. Not much movement out on the line this check but i manage to catch a yote in a trail set, same place I caught the first fox of the year.

[Linked Image]

Was able to run up the creek and dropped a few kitty sets in and a few haysets. I thought the water was high last year, it is way the heck up there this year. Going to try and push out to the lakes this weekend.

Be safe out there guys!

Well done! I wish I could hang snares like you. They just don't connect for me. But I keep trying!

Safety in numbers AV smile Except for cats. If I set a snare for a lynx I won't get him, Set one for a fox or yote and I do go figure smile

Well today had it's ups and downs. Hit my trailhead and saw that one of those Sherpa rigs had been through. Figured they were chasing moose and a few miles down the trail sure enough found the gut pile and the hide. Moved it all to the closest bait station.

Nothing bites more then walking up to a lynx set and seeing two sticks and a tuff of fur stuck in the trap. Somehow, he knocked the blocking over the trap or it fell over before he stepped on it, either way the kitty got away.

Picked up this nice looking red at a bait station.

Headed out in the am and pushing back to the lakes to drop more gear.

Be safe out there guys!

Nice colour on that fox HFT.
A moose hide draped over a leaning log is a great draw for wolves at a jackpot-they go nuts over that.
Wire or nail it down good though,if they get the hide loose they will drag it all over the place back and forth and knock down all the snares.
