I made 5 rounds with 3 different loads , .223 , can't say I am impressed with the varget . I will have to use the varget for ringing steel instead of punching paper. I know a lot of guys like varget and I should try a couple more loads

Varget is a very good all around powder for many different cartridges. It is seldom the best for any particular round. But it works from 223 to 30-06 and from grendel to 308 and a bunch of others. It is one of my favorite powders to have on my shelf for that very reason.

Vargat works well for me in 308 based cartridges. I think one of my 8lb jugs is varget.

For 223 I like 8208xbr. It is a stick powder but is fine and meters as well as a ball powder. It's not temp sensitive and most importantly it's makes tack driving accurate rounds for me.

Varget is good for heavy 223 bullets

If we were closer I'd trade some blc2 for varget. I do like the xbr8208 as well.

I don't believe you can get any real data from 5 rounds with two different powders.

Maybe try a ladder test or one of the other methods of working up a load.

I prefer H322 for my .222 Rem and .222 Rem Mag. I've also used it in bulk for .223 from a RR X1 platform and have had very good results.
I have some Varget on the shelf but haven't used it yet.
People sure seem to look for it though.

Just livin' the dream...and paying full price for it!

I liked Varget in 308 and 7mm-08. Meters so well too.

Varget is my go to powder for my .308

43.5 gr Varget with a Hornady 178 ELDx make one ragged hole.

Found this after trying a bunch of different powder/bullet combinations. Gun is a CZ 550 , heavy barrel
