Winter kills are a real thing up here. The extreme cold and deep snow last winter wreaked havoc on our deer herd. There’s no farmland where I hunt. No Soybean field, no corn, no alfalfa. And no sympathy. Mother nature will do her thing. Life and death, and death is guaranteed. I ran more trail cams than any year before. It didn’t take very long for me to realize there was a huge lack of deer out there. I was spared one buck to chase from past seasons. But by the time I figured out his habits and where he was daylight active, I was too late. He moved or died and I wasn’t able to find him again. Hopefully I’ll see him again next year! I hunted a fair bit from late August until today December 4th, the last day of our hunting season. I really didn’t want to shoot a Doe. And was hoping for anything bigger than a 3 pointer (that’s a 6 pointer to most you southerners). Here’s my 2022 Buck! A buck I would have passed up easily any other year. But this year, I am proud of him! The biggest buck I seen all year.

Congrats. Bet he'll taste just as good as any other one you've shot.

Congrats. Bet he'll taste just as good as any other one you've shot. Yup! Tomorrow we’re having bbq tenderloins! Good job JP. Hopefully your deer herd will improve, sounds like Mother Nature can be cruel up there!
He’ll taste much better than tag soup! And make a nice skull mount if I recall some of your others!
Thanks man! Yeah, he’ll go on the wall as a euro mount!

Nice deer last day deer are the best because you are under pressure Lol I was under pressure big time! Kids come running out of the house when I get home hoping to see a deer in the back of the truck. Storm was coming in late morning, so I was really hoping to get one early. Lucky me, this guy came walking by headed for the deep bush at 8:10am.

Congratulations, that is a nice deer.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.
