The dow could drop 15,000 and it would still be up above record highs in the last 10 years. It's been artificially inflated for near a decade. Corrections happen and it's well over due.

If close to retirement you can't Handel risk move to something else . If not let it ride and it will even out in the future. You will drive yourself nuts watching it all the time. I'm a little guy and making trades often does not make since especially with the tax hit. I buy then forget about it the same as if I just payed a house or car payment.

Actually it could be a very good day depending on what you want to do. Opportunity and volatility go hand in hand. Just know your risk tolerance before making a decision, and be able to explain to yourself why you are doing something. Are your expectations reasonable ?
