I am looking to get a new hunting outfit soon. Lots of new options since I have bought the last one. I have been wearing a browning hydo fleece set for years. But it’s getting time for a new one. Know guys that have all the top brands and all swear there’s the best. I have really been looking at and doing some research on the first light brand. Like what I am reading. There is a bit of a sticker shock, looking at prices. But if it’s good, does what they claim, and will last. I don’t care to pay it. What’s you guys thoughts?

Sorry, forgot to add its deer. Temps here can run from 70s to the teens or lower. Sometimes in the same day. Will be stand hunting with some spot and stalk mixed in.

I grew up hunting in hand me downs, boots too tight or too loose. Or split, same with clothes. Put bread bags over socks to.keep feet dry, not realizing I was creating a greenhouse. A REALLY funky greenhouse.
As far as camo, I still have Trebark from the '80s
My wife and kids have surplus British disruptive camo, I paid $3 for pants and maybe $7 for parkas. When it's cold, wife wears some woodland coveralls I bought in the '80s.
About 15 years ago, I bought what I consider " good" stuff at Bass Pro, 50% clearance. Quiet overalls, and a quiet, mostly waterproof 4 in 1 parka.
Probably not great by today's standards, but it works for me

40-year-old Filson shirt (hand-me-down). Dump-found boots. 6-yr-old Carhartt britches. No socks or shorts. Works for me...

https://youtu.be/Vf3IWUTK6LwI know it seems cheap, but I spent like 50 bucks this year on some of this stuff and i was not disappointed. I could afford pretty much any hunting clothes i want and figured i would give this a shot. This guy makes some good points about looking at the material the clothes are made out of and go from there. I figured if i didnt like it i would have some clothes to wear around the house and not be out anything.

Good merino or synthetic base layer, wool or polyfleece shirt, milsurp wool pants, poly fleece midlayer, synthetic insulated overcoat, bibs, or coveralls. Poly fleece is warm, light, breathable, and quiet. Its not easily compressed and doesn't block wind in the least. It needs a windbreaker over it. I love a wool blanket over my legs when sitting in a stand. It seems my legs are what I have the most trouble keeping warm. I call it "my old man blanket." I cannot walk 100 yds without breaking out in a sweat in what I need to wear to stay warm in a stand. I dress light to travel and put the rest on at the stand. Its not convenient at all, but it doesn't matter whether I spent $150 or $750 on the warm gear, I can't wear it while travelling.

I've been very impressed with kings camo. They usually have great deals on their bundle sets.
I've never been big on branded hunting clothes.

I went 100% American made and sourced, with FORLOH. Yeah it’s expensive and so far it’s been worth it. No I didn’t buy it for sitting in a deer stand, I bought to have clothes to sit in a deer stand and head up North or out West to chase turkeys during the Spring. You’ll be surprised what a review can do to get discounts. Sales have been regular and I really made out on Veterans Day with 35% off coupon. I have everything from early season South Florida turkey hunting to anything Georgia could offer during the winter. Didn’t have the full set up when I headed to the PNW this past Spring, but the pants I’d bought were beyond my expectations, never once got cold and it never got above 60. And that includes some serious wind!! The camo pattern I chose honestly looked like what you might see on pajamas at Walmart and I had my doubts. The turkeys here and in the PNW thought otherwise. I’ve been in wide open pines here with deer 360 degrees around me and have yet to be spotted. What really sold me was getting my pic on a trail camera during the day and at night…blended in great during the day and no “white” look at night. The clothes I bought weren’t their rain gear, but they are water resistant enough I haven’t gotten wet yet and I’ve been in some good rain storms. I can’t imagine what their rain gear must be like, I could probably swim in them and not get wet. That will probably be my next purchase. Now it’s already been mentioned, but I could pack my entire hunting line in a carry on bag when flying and that is a huge deal to me. Layering during turkey season is nice too because I can take off and fold up to carry in my turkey vest with very little room taken up. Again, YES, it is expensive, but buy once cry once.
