It sounds like only a few here have any understanding of personal responsibility.

I dont know how many of you have been a boss but to be effective and get your job done you have to have the cooperation of the people your in charge of. If people are not treated right they won't be productive or stick around very long. Free markets work best.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

So I'm a lazy p.o.s. for belonging to a union? I'm a proud ibew local 1 journeyman. You guys can talk bad about unions all you want. I go to work, work my 40 and give my family a better life than I could have ever imagined. I vote for what I believe in and collect my pay check. Did I mention I can earn up to 6 weeks of paid vacation that I can take whenever or however I want? That vacation makes it possible for me to have a trapping season. There is absolutely nothing a non union job in the trades has to offer that would make leaving a union worth it to me. I read one comment about non union tradesmen making close to what union members make, I find that very hard to to believe when you add in insurance and benefits that do not come out of our hourly scale. That would mean a non union electrician is making $75-$80 dollars an hour. Now you say union men are all lazy that is b.s. some yes I'll agree but there are also plenty of non union scum bags too along with non union guys that are good at what they do. I won't ever knock anyone for not wanting to join a union. I just know what's good for me and my family.

I am not saying you don't work hard. I am saying that unions and those in them are part of a system that stifles the free market AND supports politicians that want to raise my taxes, spend our money on welfare and take my guns. And, apparently, spend money bailing out union pensions--which is also welfare.

Communists want to take other people's money, redistribute wealth, disarm the population and destroy the free market.

I do wish you well in retirement trapping coyotes--you'll need that pension.

I lacked 600 hours to be vested with the carpenters union, that union work wasn’t for me.

Unions in the South must be different than ones up North. Down here it doesn’t matter who you are, if you don’t/can’t do the job you’re gone, union or not.
No they don’t like contractors, if the company needs contractors to do work then they can hire more employees. I can see the pros and cons of each side. But to hate on someone because they are or aren’t I don’t understand. I’d be happy to have a job, Union or not.

I agree with you one hundred percent warrior, all these anti union old guys are going to scream to high heaven when Medicare and SS go tits up in a few years. Then they will expect their children and grand children to foot the bill.

Wait and see.

You wouldn’t believe the “workers” that think that too. My buddy has set in on some and the worker turned to him and said “Aren’t you going to prevent this from happening?” He laughed and said “If you don’t do your job, then there’s nothing I can do…sorry.”

And this is why we are doomed as a nation. Every swinging Richard of us has sold some part of our soul and comfort to the swamp.

Well I for one would be glad to cut all ties.

Looks like the GOP is pretty useless winning over the workers.
They need to get organized.

Comparing SS and union pensions is apples and oranges, both are ponsi schemes but one is mandated the other not so much.

And this is why this country is in the shape it's in. Why I wont give an inch on the second no sir but I will belong to a union that supports a bunch of liberals who want to do away with it because I get paid good. Got news for you that's why they do it to for the money. So when you loose your rights tell your kids you helped do it so they could have the best . They may not be free but like the Dems .they can live good.

Given a choice I buy nonunion , local owned prefer sole proprietor businesses made products and services and will go out of my way to cross picket lines. My opinion is they didn't start their business to make you rich and if the law wasn't written like it is unions would and should have been busted along time ago.

My pension will be around a lot longer than any of the retirement benefits you offered your employees.

Was that Hwy 169 project a prevailing wage job?

You guys who are anti union as just saying "I want to work for less money, no pension AND I want the ability to be fired without me doing something worthy of firing". From a business owner point of view you should already pay good wages to keep good people employed. Also union employed businesses do not pass the "mandatory pay" to the consumers, this would quickly bankrupt the company from lack of sales. I would never want to enrich myself at the cost of employees, its a far better feeling to see them and their families doing good because they get paid well, benefits and the comfort knowing they have a pension. Im pro my fellow citizen living better via whatever means it takes to accomplish that.

Most State employees get pensions.
Government employees get pensions.
Military get partial pensions.
Union worker get pensions.
