Found this Red Head Long Range shotshell brass this afternoon. From a quick google search it was a Montgomery Ward brand name that was used into the 1950s when they were renamed Hawthorne Shotshells. [Linked Image]

Cool find. Metal detecting is I think a future hobby.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Check out Kellyco for all your metal detector needs.

I bought my Minelab directly out of their retail store in Florida.
Good people , very knowledgeable , competitive prices , good quality - they don't sell homeowner grade stuff.

Those are cool to find.
I do most my metal detecting in the water beaches and swimming holes.
. Im surprised sometimes where I find those bases off old shot shells. Even find old shell casings in place you wouldn't think.
I think if you went in a popular duck marsh. You could probably easily fill bucket with them old brass bases.
Id have to look not sure if I saved any odd ones I have found. Most just go in my brass scrap bucket with keys and other brass without value other than scrap.
I do wonder though when I find one of them. If the person that fired it hit what they were shooting at.

MD'ing is a great hobby and many times profitable . . . if you do your research and really know how to use your machine :-)

I got to duck hunt on "Long Point...off Shallow Bay", precisely on one of Gordon Macquarrie's spots. I was with with Keith Crowley who wrote "The Story of an Old Duck Hunter". I was aching to do a little digging around in the back of the blind in hope of finding one of Mac's empties. A metal detector would have done the trick.
