Is the process of skinning and tanning a beaver tail the same as pelt tanning? I got a mind to save tail leather for projects. (wallets, pouches, sheaths)

Skin, flesh, orange bottle tan? Or is there more to it or a better way?

It beaver tails were as simple as pelts, wouldn't you think more tanneries would offer this service? Very few places will tan beaver tails. Since Specialty Leather shut down, quite a few folks are looking for a tannery that will do beaver tails.

Not an expert on tanning processes by any means, but all I have read says that beaver tails are done using a Chrome Tan process.

Same as Tanning leather-not fur.
Grain has to be removed.

Good luck and let us know what you come up with. I have a couple in my freezer that I prepared a couple years ago and I I think are ready to tan but I haven't figured out how to do it either or where to send it. I just want them to display in my house

These are two different processes. For me, making a beaver's tail skin is much more difficult than making fur
