Everyone all geared up for your season starting on the week end.

Heard there could be a non resident coming along later in the week.

There is a guy from Southern MN coming up with his two young boys. We rented a cabin in an area we scouted last year and are hoping for a mix of Fisher, Marten and Cats. Of course a foot of fresh snow followed by 15-20 below zero won't help. With the fresh snow we will essentially be setting blind. The kids got their first cat last year and we hope to add a Marten and Fisher this year. Finacially, this is a TERRIBLE idea but this is how memories are made.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Have found plenty of fisher and cat sign. Now just waiting to see what this snow storm is going to do. Will make the decision when it is over how much traveling I will do.

I haven't seen squat for fisher or marten sign here but it seems like cats are everywhere this year. I may play around once we get back and try to thin a few grouse eaters out. At $20 each how can a guy go wrong? smile

I will probably not set any traps for fisher due to the ridiculous prices. If I set any traps this year it will probably be for weasels.

Help yourself.

Just the opposite here. Lots of fisher tracks but no cats. I agree with Born, easier to go after weasels.

I even bought a license this year, and have 13 days off. I'm very tempted to see if i can snare a cat or two.

My problem with cats is that I catch them in my canine sets early but don't have a lot of luck catching them during season. Going to give the a try again. Got the equipment ready. Have caught them in snares but really want to get better with traps.

I just got a call from my trapping partner and he is bringing THREE kids with and this will be the first trapping experience for one of them. He just got his trappers Ed done this summer. The -20 doesn't excite me much but the thought of getting a new trapper out there and teaching him the RIGHT way to do things does get my blood pumping a little. I sure wish I had room to bring some cages with. Seeing a cat in a cage is by far my favorite.

It's sunny and 70 in the pickup where much of the time will be spent.

You're trying to hard. Talk to Maddog47 about footholds and cats, He will point you in the right direction.

Anyone have information on what cats do when it snows so much? In the past I've noticed a lot of hot locations shut down due to the snow.

The snow should make them trail well and want to hunt bunnies.
