Driveway to current place is blocked from view when somebody comes up it. Was sitting by front door and had somebody walk up to within a few feet of me and didn't even know they were there. So we added a driveway alarm, and solved half the problem. Now know something is there, but don't know what.

Is there an easy to install security camera one can install? Would put it under the house eave....pointing up the driveway, with monitor in living room. If somebody or some thing sets off alarm can see what is out there. Don't need a recording or anything. Just camera with monitor. Preferably wireless to make it easy to install.

So what are the options?

I use the RING security cameras. I have 3 outdoor cams as well as a couple indoor cams. The do not go to a monitor, but up to a cloud via wifi and internet. It can be accessed via the RING app. It will alert you to motion and has options to record or not.

All of my outdoor cams are protected under my eaves. I had an incident of a Fed Ex driver backing into my garage, damaging my siding and crushing my gutter. The drive denied it and Fed Ex tried to play hard ball, but the video did not lie. At well over $1000 in damage it paid for my Ring system for several years.

The RING is not a perfect system, but I have been pleased.

I have hardwire cameras because for most part cheaper. I have two of the cheap driveway alarms from harbor freight. I have one for the front door and on backdoor. I originally had one on front walk one on drive way. My problem with them was birds and squirrels set them off. I moved the driveway one to the back door. I narrow the motion field on both as much as I can. They still get tripped enough by birds. So I just have them in blinking light mode.
As for cameras if you have wifi in your house. And a place to plug it in close to where you want to mount the camera. There is a number of cameras that work for that just have to shop. My brother in-law has a couple different ones at their cottage. He can look at them from his phone or computer. Even rotate on mounted at a high spot in driveway. Let's him look up and down the length of the driveway.
Is lots choices.
Not much help am I..

Mac

The range on most is the downfall for me. 500 is the claim but actual a lot less.

Blink system through amazon is what we have been using since someone stole my tools from my shop van. About 40 dollars per camera and 100 dollars a year for 60 day storage of video clips I have installed 7 cameras. The system has to be armed to record and the clips are only 5 seconds per activation. all this is viewable on your phone via their app.Super easy to install and set up.

Help yourself.

Wyze…we have like half a dozen of them around the house, even extending out to the far end of the carport. We have three with our alarm system as well.
Wyze are cheap cameras too.
The deputies stop by when they’re looking for someone or something that may have come down our road, lol.

With the WYZE you can add a micro SD card and have saved video as well. We turn notifications off during the day with kids playing all day and into the night.
