Got a little snow last couple days.
Was nice in the bush today on the trails, out of the wind.
Picked up a mixed bag of fur from the short line.

What is the blood from at the first marten? I have body trapped a few marten and don't remember them bleeding. Was it bait leakage, predation or something else?

Bait dripping due to the mild weather.
Its a minor problem with vertical boxes if it gets on fur.

I usually have my marten traps tied to a limb or something to the side so they don't hang straight down which alleviates the problem. Not really a big deal to clean the fur, but if it cools back off before you check them you better not try and take the marten out of the trap until he is unthawed, dripping over marten and trap will freeze fur to the trap badly.

That's some great pics Boco. I'd like to experience trapping in those conditions. The first pic of the snowy trail is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

I love the picture of the trail, 1st photo, something about that tunnel effect when I'm out on the trail that makes me feel like I'm all alone in nature.
