Watched the whole video. I didn't see any beaver get scraped...what I saw was a rough skinned beaver pelt get handed to a guy just off camera, some machine noise, and then a scraped one handed back about 15-20 seconds later.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Interesting but why not show the beavers being scraped by machine
as that would better drive home the point of no need to flesh them yourself.
We can hear the beavers being fleshed by no sign of the process in action.
Come on Gary,
Show us the act of Poncho scraping the beaver in real time.

Proprietary secrets comes to mind. I wondered about that myself but I doubt whether it is a specific Groenewold Wool and Fur invention. Just a commercial fleshing machine no?

After talking with Gary, I was under the impression it was purpose made. I've never heard a commercial fleshing machine. In the video is that what a commercial fleshing machine sounds like?

Well years ago I saw a commercial coon fleshing machine at groney's. so I can't see why it wouldn't work on beaver. When It was done by the armstrong method a good man could do 400 coon in a day. Then they had to shut him down because there was to much damage occurring after the 400 mark.
NAFA also had a commercial coon fleshing machine towards the end. But It didn't do the necks very good so they had to do the necks the old fashion way. And paid us $1.00 apiece to do them.

A few years back when the NTA National was in Pecatonica, IL, GFW invited anyone who wanted to come to tour their facility in Forreston, IL. Anyone who went had the opportunity to see the machine they use to flesh raccoons and the machine they use to flesh beaver. The tour was in the evening so everything was cleaned up and none of the machines were in use at the time but they did explain how they worked and the approximate time it took. They also showed how they boarded and dried beaver. Darn neat set up and a lot faster than a board and nails.
Very interesting and a side trip that I am glad I took.
They fed us some pretty decent pizza too!

Really wasn't anything to really see unlesss you got to open up one of the machines for maintenance. Really liked the boarding process. It was something like 14-18 clips and a peg board like thing then they were set in what looked like an air handler unit with a high speed fan. I think they could have a beaver dried in under 72 hours IIRC.

If I had a machine that could flesh a beaver in two passes in 15-20 seconds I would not show it in action either. The other un answered question is what is their drying process. Sounds like it is in a truck near by. No nails or boards from what I heard. If they can and do take the time and labor out of furs like beaver then they have the corner on that volume market and were industrious enough to do the research or find someone who did.
I can see why they want them frozen they can then do them when it fits into their schedules.
Bryce I described the drying process above. The board is basically a peg board. They have clips that are like binder clips that grab the hide and the backside of the clips is a hook that goes into the peg board. Hides go into an industrial sized air handler system with a high speed fan on them. Maybe they've changed it but thats what it was when we were there for the NTA in Illinois
